SP New Energy Corporation said it is moving forward with a corporate rebranding that will see it adopt the name “MGEN Renewables Inc.” and change its stock symbol to MGENR, replacing its current ticker SPNEC.
The company told the Philippine Stock Exchange that its board approved the updated corporate name on March 26, 2026, superseding an earlier proposal to adopt “MGEN Renewable Energy Holdings, Inc.” The revised name is still subject to approval by shareholders and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The planned shift forms part of a broader effort to align the company’s identity more closely with its strategic direction as a renewable energy platform under the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) group. The final stock symbol, MGENR, will also require regulatory clearance, including from the Philippine Stock Exchange.
The development follows an earlier board decision in January to pursue changes to both the corporate name and ticker, as the company refines its branding and positioning in the energy transition space.
The rebranding underscores the firm’s pivot toward scaling its renewable energy portfolio, as it seeks to strengthen its market identity and investor visibility amid growing demand for clean power assets.
