Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) is rolling out its “Biyaheng Arangkada” motorist assistance program from March 27 to April 6, 2026, bracing for the annual Holy Week travel surge.
The initiative spans key corridors in Luzon and Cebu, including the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), NLEX Connector, Manila–Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), Cavite–Laguna Expressway (CALAX), and Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).
MPTC is coordinating with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority for SCTEX and the Philippine Reclamation Authority, through PEA Tollway Corporation, for CAVITEX operations.
With millions expected to head to the provinces, MPTC said it is ramping up manpower and field assets to keep traffic moving and respond swiftly to incidents. The company is targeting shorter queues at toll plazas, quicker roadside assistance, and tighter traffic control across its network.
Motorists will find additional roadside assistance stations, standby medical teams, and round-the-clock basic mechanical services at major rest stops along NLEX and SCTEX.
Electric vehicle charging points and free Wi-Fi will also be available in select areas. For breakdowns, Class 1 vehicles—including Class 1M units on CCLEX—will be eligible for free towing to the nearest exit during the program period.
To ease congestion, all roadworks and lane closures will be temporarily suspended. Traffic managers may deploy counterflow schemes during peak hours, depending on real-time conditions.
MPTC is urging travelers to plan trips ahead of time, monitor official traffic advisories, ensure sufficient RFID balance, and check vehicle roadworthiness before hitting the road, as the country marks one of its busiest travel periods of the year.
