IMF chief visits Philippines, strengthens ties with BSP

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) welcomed International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva during her visit to the Philippines from March 11 to 13, 2026.

The visit was part of the IMF’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with the country. During a meeting with BSP Governor Eli M. Remolona, Jr., Georgieva reaffirmed the IMF’s support for the Philippines in building a strong, inclusive, and resilient economy. She highlighted the importance of this support as the Philippines serves as ASEAN chair this year.

The BSP said it values its long-standing partnership with the IMF, which includes collaboration on economic monitoring, policy discussions, and technical support.

Moving forward, the BSP said it will continue working closely with the IMF to promote financial stability and sustainable economic growth.
