SMC Infrastructure prepares expressways for Holy Week travel

SMC Infrastructure is implementing a traffic and safety plan on its expressways ahead of the expected Holy Week rush from Metro Manila.

The company said traffic personnel along STAR, SLEX, the Skyway System, NAIA Expressway, and TPLEX will coordinate with national and local authorities to ease congestion, especially near major exits and interchanges.

Roadworks and construction will be suspended from 12 p.m. on March 28 until 10 p.m. on April 5, and emergency response teams will be stationed at key areas for faster assistance.

Motorists are reminded to follow speed limits: 100 kph for Class 1 vehicles and 80 kph for Classes 2 and 3 on ground-level expressways, and 80 kph on elevated roads, reduced to 60 kph on curves. Drivers should also ensure their vehicles are in good condition, wear seatbelts, and maintain safe distances.

To reduce toll plaza queues, SMC Infrastructure encourages the use of the Autosweep electronic toll collection system, which has no minimum load requirement and allows online reloading via banking apps, e-wallets, kiosks, or over-the-counter channels. Sticker replacements are free for worn-out tags, and users can monitor balances and transactions in real time through the Autosweep app.
