Aboitiz Airports highlights AI’s growing role in operations

Aboitiz InfraCapital Airports or AIC Airports focused on artificial intelligence as a key driver of the industry’s future during its participation in Aviation Festival Asia 2026 in Singapore, placing the technology at the center of its evolving airport operations strategy.

At the March 25 to 26 gathering of global aviation stakeholders, AIC Airports highlighted how AI is reshaping the way airports manage complexity, improve efficiency, and respond to passenger needs in real time. The company’s message was clear. The next generation of airports will not just be digital. They will be intelligent.

Leading the delegation, Chief Executive Officer Athanasios Titonis underscored AI’s potential to transform operations from reactive systems into predictive and adaptive networks. By harnessing real time data, airports can anticipate disruptions, allocate resources more efficiently, and deliver smoother passenger journeys.

He said AI’s ability to turn data into real time action supports a shift toward more responsive and passenger centric operations.

He cited a recent student hackathon as a snapshot of that future. The winning concept proposed linking airport operations control centers with live passenger conversations on social media. This would allow operators to detect issues as they arise, gauge sentiment quickly, and respond in near real time. The idea reflects a broader push to integrate unconventional data sources into operational decision making.

Titonis also pointed to increasingly connected systems that continuously learn and adapt. He said this direction could lead to airport operations that function as a unified and intelligent network.

AIC Airports executives reinforced this direction in panel discussions throughout the event. They highlighted how digital tools and automation can complement human expertise, enhance passenger experience, and support more sustainable aviation systems.

Beyond the conference sessions, the delegation engaged with global partners to explore emerging technologies and potential collaborations aimed at accelerating innovation across its network.

The company said these efforts support its goal of building more efficient and responsive gateways across Cebu, Bohol, and Northern Mindanao, combining data driven systems with the hallmark warmth of Filipino hospitality.
