The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) will distribute more than ₱19 billion to around 1.37 million members and pensioners under its Balik Ginhawa refund program.
The program will return loan payments made between December 2025 and February 2026. Monthly loan payments range from ₱4,000 to ₱39,000, meaning borrowers could receive about ₱12,000 to ₱117,000 for three months, depending on their loan and number of payments made.
Unlike a typical loan moratorium, GSIS will continue collecting payments but will refund up to three months’ worth of amortizations in a single lump sum.
GSIS president Wick Veloso said the program aims to provide quick financial relief by giving members cash back instead of pausing payments.
Only members and pensioners who made loan payments during the covered period are eligible for the refund. Those who did not make payments will not qualify.
