PSAC backs AI upskilling, faster job matching drive

The Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) is pushing a coordinated set of measures to protect jobs and speed up workforce transformation as global economic uncertainty weighs on employment prospects.

At the center of the proposal is “AIUDA” (AI Upskilling para sa Digital Asenso), a rapid reskilling program designed to move workers into digital and remote roles within weeks. The council said the initiative aims to quickly bridge skills gaps while preparing Filipinos for higher-value work.

PSAC also urged the ускорation of job matching through AI-powered workforce redeployment, expanded nationwide job fairs, and faster hiring pipelines across both government and private sector employers. At the same time, stalled infrastructure and school construction projects are slated for immediate restart to generate additional employment.

To cushion the impact on overseas Filipino workers and vulnerable groups, the council recommended streamlining redeployment processes, rolling out micro-credential programs in priority industries, and expanding support for entrepreneurship and micro, small and medium enterprises.

“Our focus is twofold: immediate job preservation and long-term workforce transformation,” said Sabin Aboitiz, PSAC lead convener and president and chief executive officer of Aboitiz Group. “By investing in skills, accelerating job matching, and supporting enterprises, we can help ensure that Filipinos remain productive and competitive despite global headwinds.”

The recommendations were presented during the 4th meeting of the PSAC Education and Jobs Sector Group at Malacañang on April 8, where President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. affirmed closer alignment between government and private sector efforts to counter rising fuel costs, supply chain disruptions, and employment risks.

PSAC said complementary measures—including targeted subsidies, public transport support, accelerated digital infrastructure, and tiered AI training pathways from basic tools to advanced digital roles—are key to strengthening both near-term resilience and long-term competitiveness.
