Treasury bill yields ease at auction as inflation slows; bids total P15B

The Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) awarded the entire P15 billion borrowing program for treasury bills at the auction on Monday as yield declined after inflation decelerated in October.

Inflation in October slowed to 4.9 percent from 6.1 percent in September, allowing the central bank space to possibly pause in its policy tightening at its meeting on Thursday. Total bids at Monday’s auction reached P46.4 billion.

Yield on the 91-day treasury bill eased to 6.123 percent from 6.352 percent at the previous action. Total tenders for the P5 billion offer reached P20.13 billion.

The average rate for the 182-day debt paper eased to 6.513 percent from 6.536 percent as tenders total P10.73 billion.

Yield on the 364-day bill slipped to 6.560 percent from 6.591 percent, with total tenders for the P5 billion offer at P15.58 billion.
