Joint venture partners Lorenzo Construction and Development Corp. and Silver Dragon Construction and Lumber and Glass Supply Inc. have signed a P396 million contract with the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) for the construction of earth fill dam in President Roxas, Capiz.
Apart from the dam, the contract signed this week also includes the construction of spillway, irrigation and diversion conduit, drainage crossing as well as access and service roads.
The project covers 594 hectares of agricultural land in the barangays of Bayuyan, Badiangon, Carmencita, Cubay, Ibaca and Sto. Niño that will benefit 477 farmers and their families.
NIA serves as lead agency in developing all possible sources of water for irrigation and has partnered with both private firms and other government offices for value adding purposes.
Among the value-adding projects applied are the installation of floating solar power plants and run-of-river hydro power projects.
