The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is rated the fourth worst airport in Asia for business travelers, according to London-based business finance research and information portal Businessfinancing.co.uk.
According to the website, the Philippine facility deserves a rating of 2.78, better than Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz International Airport (2.62) and Kazakstan’s Almaty International Airport (2.62).
The Kuwait International Airport was adjudged the worst airport in the region with a rating of 1.69., the only airport with less than two stars in Asia.
“Travelers frequently express dissatisfaction with unpleasant odors and unprofessional, slow boarding procedure at the airport,” it said.
The Noi Bai International Airport in Vietnam excelled in the ranking with an impressive business traveller rating of 6.80, and especially praised for its efficient queuing system.
Vietnam was followed by Singapore’s Changi Airport with a rating of 6.63, China’s Hong Kong International Airport a 6.48, Qatar’s Hamad International Airport a 6.44, Japan’s Narita International Airport another 6.23, Haneda Airport with 5.82, India’s Kempegowda International Airport a 5.56, Taiwan’s Taoyauan International Airport a 5.29, India’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Int’l Airport another 5.22 and Indira Gandhi International Airport, 4.60.
Globally, the worst airport was Belgium’s Brussels South Charleroi Airport with a rating of 1.20, followed by Germany’s Berlin Brandeburg Airport (1.56), United Kingdom’s Leeds Bradford Airport (1.57), Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in US (1.64) and UK’s Manchester Airport (1.68).
“The worst airport in the world surely … doesn’t event deserve 1 star,” one reviewer said.
The study said both the UK and the US face similar challenges, with six airports from each making unwelcome appearances on the list.
Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, Vietnam, earned the top rating of 6.8 from business travelers worldwide.
