Globe Telecom Inc. on Sunday said it is on schedule to finish a second co-built project with Converge ICT Solutions Inc. in Leyte Province by the third quarter of 2024, marking a significant step in expanding its fiber optic network and bringing reliable internet to more Filipinos.
This partnership began in February 2022 with a 137-kilometer co-building project stretching from Pili, Camarines Sur to Legazpi City, Albay.
Utilizing cutting-edge technology, the venture includes deploying state-of-the-art underground microduct solution facilities. This project completed in the third quarter of 2022.
Following the success of the initial undertaking, a second co-build project in Leyte Province began in the third quarter last year spanning 209 kilometers from Tacloban and Maasin via Baybay. The project is 80 percent complete and seen completed by the third quarter this year.
The initiatives fall under Globe’s core fortification program designed to achieve comprehensive enhancements, expand its fiber network, upgrade network capacity, and accommodate the hyperscalers’ needs.
The program focuses on improving the resilience of the company’s fiber optic core backbone network against the impact of typhoons and other natural disasters.
