Fuel at the pumps rise yet again beginning Tuesday

The price of fuel at the pumps rises yet again at past midnight on Tuesday when retailers Seaoil and Caltex sell its gasoline products P0.40 per liter higher, diesel P0.95 per liter more and kerosene by another P0.85 per liter.

Rival retailers PTT, Clean Fuel and Jetti similarly adjusted the price of gasoline by P0.40 per liter and diesel by P0.95 per liter.

Department of Energy (DOE) data show the price per liter of gasoline (RON91) in Manila at P65.65, diesel at P62.75 and kerosene at P74.31.

DOE data also show the adjustments as a net increase of P9.30 per liter for gasoline, P6.05 per liter for diesel and P1.40 per liter for kerosene.

Reuters reported that as of Friday last week, Brent crude futures sell at $90.45 a barrel while US West Texas Intermediate crude futures ended at $85.66 per barrel.

The report said oil prices near a six-month high on concerns that Iran, the third-largest producer among members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), escalated tensions in the Middle East with retaliatory strikes against Israel for an attack that killed high-ranking Iranian military personnel.
