GT Capital Holdings Inc., the listed investment holding company of the Ty Group, said Monday George S. Uy-Tioco Jr. has been appointed as its new chief financial officer.
Uy-Tioco brings a wealth of experience in finance and investment banking spanning over 25 years to his new role. He previously served as the head of corporate finance at ING Bank N.V. Manila Branch from June 2021 to March 2024 and between 2013 and 2021 as head of mergers and acquisitions at BPI Capital Corp.His career is highlighted by significant achievements in handling key transactions in mergers and acquisitions, financial advisory, and asset management across diverse sectors including banking, energy, and telecommunications.
Uy-Tioco holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia in the US, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Engineering from the Ateneo de Manila University.
His appointment follows the retirement of Francisco H. Suarez, Jr., who served as GT Capital’s CFO for 12 years. During his tenure, Suarez played a pivotal role in overseeing the company’s strategic financial initiatives, including its initial public offering, private placements, bond issuances, and various investment acquisitions.
He also provided leadership as a Director and Adviser on the boards of several GT Capital Group operating companies.
GT Capital President Carmelo Maria Luza Bautista expressed gratitude to Suarez for his dedicated service and welcomed Uy-Tioco to the company.
