‘Fake SIM registration scams’ on the rise, telco says

Smart Communications, Inc. and its value brand TNT have issued a warning to subscribers about a rising scam involving fraudulent text messages.

These messages falsely urge users to re-register their SIM cards through phishing links that mimic the official SIM registration portal.

In their advisory, Smart emphasized that these messages are not from them, stating, “Smart did not send these messages. These messages are phishing attempts aimed at stealing your personal information.”

The company reassured customers that those who have already registered their SIMs do not need to re-register.

Subscribers are advised to use the official registration portal at https://simreg.smart.com.ph and report any suspicious messages through the HuliScam reporting portal at www.smart.com.ph/huliscam.

This initiative is part of Smart’s efforts, alongside a newly activated advanced network firewall by the PLDT Group, to enhance customer security against scams.
