    AFP calls for calm amid tension stirred by VP Duterte

    Armed Forces Chief of Staff, Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. appealed for calm amid tensions stirred by threats issued by Vice President Sarah Duterte on the life of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., his wife Liza, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez. “We are facing greater challenges that require the strength of a united country and armed forces. As cornerstone of national stability, the AFP shall remain non-partisan, with utmost respect for our democratic institutions and civilian authority,” said Brawner. “Our personnel are loyal to the Constitution and the Chain of Command,” he noted. As president, Marcos is the Commander in Chief.
