The highly anticipated KADIWA ng Pangulo Expo 2024 kicks off on Tuesday at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), offering a comprehensive showcase of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s flagship initiative to strengthen market linkages and provide affordable, high-quality food for Filipinos.
The three-day event, which runs from 26 to 28 November, will feature over 100 exhibitors, primarily farmers and fishermen, demonstrating the progress and success of the KADIWA ng Pangulo (KNP) program. The expo will spotlight “Bigger, Better, More” KADIWA models, designed to streamline the flow of fresh produce from farm to table. These include KADIWA food hubs, mobile units like trucks and carts, and the innovative KADIWA App, which enables consumers to easily access fresh, locally-produced goods.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. emphasized the broader vision behind the initiative, saying, “KNP is part of President Marcos’ vision of a food-secure Philippines under the Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas—where every Filipino family can afford nutritious food, and farmers and fishermen are assured of decent returns for their labor.”
The expo will also feature a series of live cooking demonstrations at KUSINA ng KADIWA, highlighting the culinary potential of local produce. In addition, the event will foster direct market linkages with institutional buyers and host agribusiness investment forums aimed at generating private sector partnerships to further support agricultural growth.
“We want our kababayans to see what the KADIWA ng Pangulo Program has achieved,” said assistant secretary Genevieve Guevara, who heads the KNP initiative. “The expo underscores the results of collaboration between the government, farmers, fisherfolk, and private stakeholders to fulfill the promise of a food-secure Philippines.”
The Department of Agriculture (DA) is spearheading the KNP in collaboration with key government agencies, including the Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Presidential Communications Office, and Presidential Management Staff.
With KADIWA ng Pangulo continuing to evolve, this year’s expo aims to deepen public awareness and engagement in achieving long-term food security for the nation.
