Bhargava is research head, chief economist at ING Bank Asia Pacific

ING Bank in Manila on Wednesday announced the appointment of Deepali Bhargava as its new head of research and chief economist for Asia Pacific, bringing over two decades of expertise in macroeconomics and investment strategy.

Deepali, previously with Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) and Credit Suisse, is renowned for her leadership in macroeconomic analysis and asset allocation across India, Southeast Asia, and Australia.

Most recently, she served as director and head of South Asia Macro at KKR, providing strategic insights into economic trends, interest rates, and currency movements, influencing investment decisions across various asset classes. Deepali’s career began at ING Vysya Bank in Mumbai. Her return to ING marks a full circle for the accomplished economist.

Uday Sareen, chief executive of ING in Asia Pacific, expressed confidence in Deepali’s ability to lead the research team, following the retirement of Robert Carnell, who had led ING Research in the region since 2017. Deepali succeeds Robert as new leader and expected to further strengthen ING’s economic insights in the dynamic Asia Pacific region.

Deepali holds a BA Honours and an MA in Economics from Delhi University.
