BanKo taps ECPay’s 300K-member network to reach underserved Filipinos

BPI Direct BanKo, Inc., a savings bank (BanKo), the microfinance arm of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), has partnered with Electronic Commerce Payments Inc. (ECPay), a leading electronic payment service provider, to make financial services more accessible to Filipinos, particularly micro-entrepreneurs and underserved communities.

This collaboration strengthens BanKo’s efforts to promote financial inclusion by tapping into ECPay’s robust payment network. With over 300,000 over-the-counter partner locations across the country—including pawnshops, convenience stores, malls, sari-sari stores, supermarkets, and remittance centers—BanKo clients can now conveniently perform loan payments at locations closer to where they live and work.

“Our partnership with ECPay allows us to bring essential financial services even closer to everyday Filipinos—especially the self-employed micro-entrepreneurs (SEMEs). With ECPay’s wide network, it’s now even more convenient for our clients to settle their loans on time. By making payments easier and more accessible, we’re helping them stay on track financially—dahil sa BanKo, may ngiti ang bukas mo,” said Rod Mabiasen Jr., BanKo President.

BanKo clients can access ECPay services through 1,314 ECPay kiosks nationwide, as well as over 10,000 other non-ECPay self-service kiosks. This expands the available touchpoints for secure and seamless transactions with more than 100 digital collection partners, reaching millions of users.
