MPower secures extended deal to power Gokongwei facilities

MPower, the retail electricity supply unit of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), has renewed its retail electricity supply (RES) contract with the Gokongwei Group, reinforcing a strategic energy partnership that powers the latter’s key commercial and industrial facilities across Luzon.

Under the renewed agreement, MPower will continue to supply electricity to an expanded roster of Gokongwei Group companies, including JG Summit Holdings subsidiaries Robinsons Land Corp., Cebu Pacific, Universal Robina Corp., JG Summit Olefins Corp., and RL Commercial REIT, as well as Robinsons Supermarket under Robinsons Retail Holdings.

The selection of MPower as electricity supplier underscores the Gokongwei Group’s focus on reliable, competitive, and sustainable energy solutions. The new contract includes a 60 percent renewable energy component, aligning with the conglomerate’s long-term sustainability goals.

“This agreement goes beyond securing a reliable power supply – it represents our collective commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Lance Y. Gokongwei, president and CEO of JG Summit Holdings.

The partnership between MPower and JG Summit began in 2013 and has since evolved into a key collaboration centered on energy efficiency and impact-driven corporate responsibility.

Meralco chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan emphasized the broader significance of the partnership: “This collaboration reflects a shared purpose as we work together to empower communities and contribute to a stronger, more sustainable Philippines.”
