Lenovo refreshes ThinkStation line with AI-ready desktops

At the NXT BLD conference in London, Lenovo® unveiled a major refresh to its workstation lineup, introducing next-gen ThinkStation desktop models and debuting Lenovo Workstation Solutions, a new series of workflow-optimized packages tailored to the needs of engineers, designers, data scientists, and other performance users.

Leading the solutions rollout is Lenovo Access, a reference architecture designed for hybrid and remote work environments. The initial blueprint features rack-mounted ThinkStation P3 Ultra SFF workstations, each powered by Intel® Core™ Ultra CPUs, NVIDIA RTX 4000 SFF Ada GPUs, and up to 128GB of DDR5 RAM. The setup utilizes Mechdyne TGX for responsive remote graphics performance and offers 1:1 access to physical workstations, rather than shared virtual resources. Security and manageability are enhanced with Intel vPro®, Lenovo ThinkStation BMC, and ThinkShield.

Lenovo also revealed the next generation of its desktop workstations, including the ThinkStation P2 and P3 Series, updated to support advanced AI, CAD, and design workflows. Key models include:

    • ThinkStation P3 Tower Gen 2: Up to Intel Core Ultra 9, future-ready for NVIDIA RTX 6000 Blackwell, 128GB DDR5 RAM, and enhanced RAID support. Built for AI-enhanced workflows at an accessible price point.
    • ThinkStation P3 Ultra SFF Gen 2: Ultra-compact under 4 liters, but supports powerful configurations with RTX 4000 Ada GPUs, PCIe Gen 5, and ThinkStation BMC remote management.
    • ThinkStation P3 Tiny Gen 2: At just 1 liter, this 96%-smaller desktop supports up to RTX A1000, Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt™ 4, and up to 128GB RAM, targeting space-constrained workspaces across verticals.
    • ThinkStation P2 Tower Gen 2: Compact 17-liter design, now supports Intel Core Ultra 9, NVIDIA Ada GPUs, and faster DDR5 memory for STEAM educators and entry-level professionals.

    Availability

    • Lenovo Access is available now via Lenovo representatives.
    • The ThinkStation P3 Tower Gen 2 is also available now.
    • The P2 Tower, P3 Ultra SFF, and P3 Tiny will ship later this month.

Lenovo’s Rob Herman, VP of Worldwide Workstation and Client AI, emphasized that the updates aim to “give power users the tools to accelerate their workflows and get things done,” with more solution blueprints expected soon.
