Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) has officially named Standard Insurance Co., Inc. as the second model End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) dismantling facility in the Philippines under the global “Toyota Global 100 Dismantlers Project.”
Standard Insurance manages ELV dismantling operations mainly for vehicles under its insurance coverage, dismantling about 850 units each year. Its facility, located in Naic, Cavite at the company’s technical and training center, covers around 8,840 square meters and can process up to six vehicles daily.
This initiative, backed by a PHP17.8 million investment, highlights the private sector’s growing role in sustainable vehicle lifecycle management and the promotion of a circular economy.
ELV dismantling facilities are essential in fostering a circular approach in the auto industry by responsibly decommissioning non-functional vehicles. These operations help reduce environmental harm by managing hazardous waste properly and recovering materials that can be reused in manufacturing.
With two certified ELV dismantling facilities now operational in the Philippines, the private sector is strengthening the country’s capacity for sustainable vehicle disposal. This development supports local environmental goals and contributes to addressing global climate risks linked to ELVs.
Standard Insurance now joins as the fifth facility in Southeast Asia to be part of Toyota’s Global 100 Dismantlers Project.
TMP President Masando Hashimoto expressed appreciation for Standard Insurance’s proactive commitment, noting that Toyota customers can feel reassured knowing there is a proper facility for ELVs.
He added that this collaboration reflects a shared, long-term dedication to achieving carbon neutrality and building a recycling-based society, in line with the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050.
The Toyota Global 100 Dismantlers Project is a worldwide effort aimed at establishing responsible ELV dismantling sites in key regions to tackle environmental issues like pollution and resource scarcity through sustainable disposal and recycling.
Standard Insurance has been a partner in TMP’s “Toyota Insure” program since 2021. The company’s facility follows En Tsumugi ELV Dismantler Corporation in Mexico, Pampanga, which became the first Toyota-endorsed ELV site in the country in September 2024.
