DA chief to undergo medical procedure; will take 2-week leave

Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. is taking a two-week medical leave that starts today, 9 July, to undergo a procedure he has deferred since beginning his public service career in November 2023.

Secretary Tiu Laurel is expected to resume his duties by July 24, just days before President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s annual State of the Nation Address.

“Even while I’m abroad for my medical leave, I will continue to monitor developments on the ground. Tuloy-tuloy lang ang trabaho,” said Secretary Tiu Laurel, underscoring his commitment to the DA despite his temporary absence.

The DA chief made the announcement to prevent any speculation about his impending prolonged absence from activities of the DA.
