The inter-agency Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has issued a warning to content creators in the country, urging them to stop promoting illegal online gambling platforms. CICC deputy executive director Renato Paraiso on Friday told a news conference that demand letters will be sent to violators starting next week, with legal action to follow for those who fail to comply.
Paraiso highlighted the risks of unregulated online gambling, including the potential for result manipulation. “Pwede silang mandaya dyan,” he said, underscoring the policy’s intent to protect the public from fraud.
This move comes amid a broader regulatory push. The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) recently directed all licensed operators to take down billboard and out-of-home gambling advertisements by 15 August this year. Licensees must submit an inventory of such ads, including those on public transport, by 16 July.
The coordinated efforts by CICC and PAGCOR mark a tightening of enforcement around online gambling and its promotion, particularly through digital influencers and content creators.
