Globe Telecom has urged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to return the Konektadong Pinoy (KP) Bill to Congress for further refinement, citing the need for policy adjustments to ensure fair competition and long-term digital inclusivity.
Speaking at its 1H 2025 financial briefing, Globe reiterated its commitment to universal and affordable internet access but emphasized that the bill, in its current form, needs improvements to fully deliver on its transformative goals.
“The bill’s intent is laudable, but it must provide a level playing field and sufficient oversight,” said Froilan Castelo, Globe general counsel. He highlighted concerns including regulatory imbalance, uneven competition, and lack of transparency for new entrants.
Globe urged closer collaboration between the government, Congress, and industry stakeholders to build a more robust and equitable framework for connectivity. The company affirmed its continued support for the bill, provided it undergoes needed revisions to safeguard digital ecosystem stability and foster inclusive national growth.
