The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) on Friday announced its full readiness to respond to potential power-related issues brought about by Tropical Depression Isang.
As the weather disturbance threatens to bring heavy rains and possible flooding, Meralco assured the public that its crews are on alert and closely monitoring developments. The power distributor emphasized that safety remains a top priority and urged customers to take precautions to prevent electrical hazards.
Meralco advised the public to switch off their main power source if floodwaters enter their homes, avoid contact with exposed wires, unplug appliances, and wait for a licensed electrician to inspect systems after floods recede.
“Our teams are ready to respond, but we also count on our customers to observe safety measures during this time,” said Joe R. Zaldarriaga, Meralco vice president and head of corporate communications.
The company continues to monitor advisories and reminds the public to stay informed and vigilant throughout the weather event.
