DPWH suspends uniform policy amid agency probe to protect employees

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has temporarily suspended its uniform policy for all personnel, citing security concerns amid ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities in flood control projects.

In a memorandum issued by Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon, employees are excused from wearing their official uniforms “until further notice” to avoid potential harassment or bullying.

“In light of current events, all officials and employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) are excused from wearing the prescribed office uniform,” Dizon stated.

While the suspension is in effect, DPWH employees are still expected to adhere to the Civil Service Commission’s Revised Dress Code (CSC Memorandum Circular No. 16, s. 2024) by dressing in appropriate and presentable attire that reflects professionalism in public service.

The move follows the filing of corruption charges against several DPWH officials and contractors linked to questionable flood control projects, which has placed the agency under intense public and media scrutiny.

Dizon emphasized that the decision is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and dignity of DPWH personnel during this period.
