SMC alerts public on scams using CEO Ramon Ang’s name

San Miguel Corp. (SMC) has renewed warnings about fraudulent schemes exploiting the name and likeness of its chairman and CEO, Ramon S. Ang, for profit. Scammers are circulating deepfake videos on social media platforms like TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram, digitally altering Ang’s image and voice to deceive people into clicking malicious links and transferring money.

Ang clarified he never promotes investments via social media or emails, neither has he made videos promising returns or guarantees. His only official account is his verified Facebook page. SMC also warned of email scams impersonating the company with fake “vending procurement” offers and recruitment scams demanding payments from job applicants—none of which are legitimate.

The corporation emphasized it deals only with accredited suppliers through official channels and never asks for payments during hiring or procurement. SMC urged the public to stay alert, block suspicious contacts, and report scams to authorities.
