Globe Telecom has activated its emergency response teams in the wake of a magnitude 7.6 earthquake that struck offshore Davao Oriental on October 10. The powerful tremor, felt across the Davao Region and nearby provinces, triggered evacuations and temporary suspension of operations in several areas.
Globe is working closely with local government units and partner organizations to assess the quake’s impact and ensure continued connectivity. Relief operations, in partnership with the Ayala Foundation Inc. (AFI), are scheduled for October 13 in Manay, Davao Oriental.
“Our immediate priority is to keep people connected and informed,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.
Network services were initially affected in eight provinces, but have since been fully restored in Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao de Oro, Davao Oriental, and Lanao del Sur. Davao City has seen a 96.55% restoration rate.
Globe assures continued monitoring and deployment of technical teams as needed. Residents are urged to remain alert and follow official advisories from PHIVOLCS and local authorities.
