Tanduay blends tradition and innovation at Whisky Live Manila 2025

Tanduay highlighted its premium Reserve Rums and offered creative collaborations and prizes during Whisky Live Manila 2025, held at Shangri-La The Fort in Bonifacio Global City.

“We wanted to bring new experiences to this year’s event by highlighting our soon-to-be-available Reserve Rums. We gave attendees a teaser of Tanduay’s latest premium products, and they were both well-received. Those who had a taste of the rums were impressed with its flavor and good quality,” said Roy Kristoffer Sumang, international business development manager of Tanduay.

The new Tanduay Reserve Rum Series features two variants — the Tanduay Reserve Rum 10 Years and the Tanduay Reserve Rum Overproof — both made with high-quality sugarcane and proudly Philippine-made.

Sumang said Tanduay’s continued participation in Whisky Live Manila, the country’s biggest whisky event, provides valuable brand exposure. “We wanted to evoke curiosity and excitement for the brand, so that more people will learn about what it has to offer,” he added.

While Whisky Live centers on whisky, Tanduay emphasized the close connection between rum and whisky, both aged in barrels. Tanduay ages its rums in barrels that once contained bourbon whisky, giving them a rich character.

To showcase its versatility, Tanduay partnered with top mixologists for cocktail creations. On the first day, Alvaro Basilides of Booze and Brews in Makati served three Tanduay-based cocktails — Suman Atbp, Evergreen, and Smokehouse. On the second day, Joe Mari “Bhaj” Santos of Salty for Coconut presented Barrio Fizzta, Golden Pine, and Rum Fashioned.

Visitors at the Tanduay booth could also win prizes from a gashapon machine and customize their pouches with their names and Tanduay stickers using a heat press machine.

Sumang observed growing interest in “experiential drinking” among attendees who seek new ways to enjoy their drinks. Many younger guests also came to support participants in the cocktail competition for young bartenders.

He also noted the rise of the “sober curious” — individuals who don’t drink but are interested in the social and cultural aspects of drinking events.

Through its new Reserve Rums, creative partnerships, and engaging experiences, Tanduay continues to evolve as a brand while staying true to its heritage.
