Foundever®, through its University and Community Partnership (UCP) and Language Academy in Palawan, has teamed up with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Puerto Princesa to launch a digital literacy skills training program aimed at supporting inmate rehabilitation and reintegration.
The one-day training introduced participants to basic computer use, typing, and digital tools—skills seen as essential for finding employment in today’s technology-driven world. The initiative forms part of BJMP’s wider rehabilitation program, helping inmates prepare for life after release.
“Education and skills development are powerful tools for transformation,” said Freda Lou Caguin, site director for Foundever in Palawan. “By providing digital literacy training, we’re not just teaching computer skills—we’re offering hope, dignity, and real opportunities for a fresh start.”
The program reflects Foundever’s commitment to inclusive community development and rehabilitation through employable skill-building. It also highlights how private sector partnerships can strengthen the justice system’s rehabilitation efforts and reduce recidivism.
“We believe everyone deserves a second chance,” Caguin added. “This partnership shows how collaboration can help individuals rebuild their lives while benefiting society as a whole.”
By focusing on practical learning and digital empowerment, the initiative supports national efforts to emphasize rehabilitation over punishment and contributes to a more inclusive, skills-ready community.
