PLDT forecasts stronger 3Q earnings on Home, Enterprise growth

PLDT Inc. expects stronger earnings in the third quarter of 2025 compared with the first two quarters, chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan said on Wednesday.

“It’s better, I believe, than the second quarter. The previous two quarters, slightly better,” Pangilinan noted, citing continued growth in the company’s Home and Enterprise segments as key drivers.

He said that the digital financial platform Maya also contributed to the improvement, though its performance was “slightly affected” by restrictions on links from gaming sites.

PLDT earlier reported a ₱9.1 billion net income in the second quarter, up 5.8 percent year-on-year, while first-half profit slipped 2 percent to ₱18.1 billion. Gross service revenues for the first half rose 3 percent to ₱106.3 billion.

Meanwhile, Pangilinan confirmed that PLDT is searching for a new chief operating officer for Smart Communications following the resignation of Anastacio R. Martirez amid workplace culture allegations.

He said the company is likely to appoint an external candidate, adding that he hopes the next leader will be from a younger generation — “a Gen Z or a young fellow or even Millennial, because the future belongs to them.”
