ACEN scores big anew in governance honors

ACEN Corp., the renewable energy unit of the Ayala Group, has once again cemented its standing as one of the Philippines’ top corporate governance champions, earning 4 Golden Arrows from the Institute of Corporate Directors at the 2025 ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) Golden Arrow Awards held at Okada Manila.

This is the company’s third straight year receiving the 4-Arrow distinction—an achievement that underscores ACEN’s consistency in upholding best-in-class governance as it scales its renewable energy portfolio across the Asia-Pacific region. Only 17 publicly listed companies achieved 4 Golden Arrows this year, out of 116 recognized by ICD.

ACEN’s win reinforces the Ayala Group’s strong governance culture. Ayala Corporation and Globe led with 5 Golden Arrows each, followed by Ayala Land, BPI, and Integrated Microelectronics Inc. with 4 each; AREIT and Ayala Land Logistics Holdings Corp. with 3; and ENEX Energy Corp. with 1.

Dodjie Lagazo, ACEN’s Group General Counsel and Compliance Officer, said the recognition validates the company’s approach of embedding governance into every major decision. “Our governance principles remain steadfast even as ACEN pursues bold growth across multiple jurisdictions. Governance is a strategic mindset that ensures scale and sustainability go hand in hand. At ACEN, growth and good governance co-exist to create sustainable impact,” he said.

The ICD’s ACGS framework evaluates publicly listed companies based on shareholder rights, equitable treatment of investors, stakeholder engagement, transparency, disclosure practices, and board effectiveness. Companies may earn up to five Golden Arrows depending on their adherence to global governance standards.

With its latest accolade, ACEN continues to strengthen its reputation as a renewable energy leader grounded in accountability, transparency, and long-term value creation.
