NLEX completes safety, maintenance works on SCTEX

NLEX Corporation has completed several asset enhancement and preventive maintenance projects on the Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) to improve safety and provide smoother travel for motorists.

“We’re focused on delivering improvements that our motorists can truly feel on the road,” NLEX president and general manager Luis S. Reñon said. He added that “SCTEX has long been known for its scenic and well-maintained stretches, and we are committed to upholding that reputation by continuously investing in safety and reliability.”

The company repaired about 3,700 square meters of pavement from Dinalupihan to Tarlac to fix uneven road surfaces and reduce potential hazards. It also installed 22 new sets of rumble strips at key points along the expressway, bringing the total to 26. The strips create mild vibrations and sounds to help keep drivers alert.

NLEX is also raising median guardrails by 30 cm from Dolores to Luisita to match an asphalt overlay and maintain safety standards.

Earlier this year, the firm implemented technology upgrades in SCTEX to improve toll system efficiency and enhance the customer experience. “These improvements form part of our continued efforts to maintain SCTEX as a world-class expressway built on safety, comfort, and reliability,” Reñon said.

NLEX is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp,, the toll road arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corp.
