The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is fast-tracking the Improving Growth Corridors in Mindanao Road Sector Project (IGCMRSP) following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s order to tighten coordination with local governments and ensure timely, accountable implementation.
The agency reported that the Guicam Bridge Project—one of the program’s major components—is now 91.9 percent complete. The bridge will connect Olutanga Island, including the towns of Olutanga, Talusan, and Mabuhay, to mainland Zamboanga Sibugay, improving mobility and access for residents.
Another key project, the 24-kilometer RT Lim–Siocon Road, is set for inauguration in December. Once opened, it will link R.T. Lim in Zamboanga Sibugay to Siocon in Zamboanga del Norte, reducing transport costs and enhancing trade and movement of goods.
Funded by the Asian Development Bank and implemented by the DPWH Unified Project Management Office, the IGCMRSP aims to expand the BIMP-EAGA road network, spur economic growth, and help strengthen peace and security in Mindanao.
