Free tool helps entrepreneurs practice company registration

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has launched a free online tool that lets entrepreneurs practice the company registration process before filing real applications.

The new Company Registration Simulation feature, available through the revamped SEC Academy portal (academy.sec.gov.ph), walks users through each step of registering a business using the agency’s digital systems—eSPARC for company registration and eSECURE for accessing all SEC online services.

The simulation allows users to explore requirements, test the process, and practice filling out forms. By letting applicants spot and fix mistakes early, the tool aims to reduce incomplete submissions, ease traffic on the actual registration platform, and help SEC personnel focus on processing compliant applications.

SEC chairman Francis E. Lim said the initiative supports the agency’s push to make business registration simpler and more accessible. “We want to show that registration is straightforward and empower entrepreneurs to confidently take the first step,” he said.

The system can simulate registrations for one-person corporations, domestic and foreign stock or non-stock corporations, and various types of foreign offices. It also lets users practice digital authentication of documents through the Electronic Submission Authentication Portal (eSAP), eliminating the need for hard-copy submissions with wet signatures.

Entrepreneurs can also view a tentative assessment of registration fees based on authorized capital, helping them plan ahead.
