Delivery Hero Philippines, operator of Foodpanda, is urging more Filipinos to shift from cash to digital payments . Managing director Daniel Jaramillo said digital adoption in the Philippines still lags behind other Delivery Hero markets, and the company hopes to change that through new incentives.
Foodpanda, EastWest Bank, and Visa have launched a co-branded credit card aimed at boosting digital transactions. The card offers up to 10 percent cash back on Foodpanda orders up to ₱4,000 (or ₱400 back), then 3 percent on succeeding orders. Users also earn 1 percent cash back on international spending and 0.3 percent on local purchases, capped at ₱1,000 monthly. All rewards go directly to the customer’s Pandapay wallet.
EastWest CEO Jerry Ngo said the timing is ideal as the “ber” months drive heavy food spending in the Philippines. The bank aims to onboard as many users as possible under an ambitious, phased rollout.
The partnership supports the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ goal of reaching 70 percent digital payments adoption by 2030 and fits EastWest’s push to integrate banking into Filipinos’ daily digital routines.
