Globe, GCash test password-free login for safer transactions

Globe Telecom and GCash have completed the first phase of testing for silent network authentication (SNA), a new technology designed to make digital transactions safer and easier for users.

SNA verifies a user’s identity directly through the Globe mobile network, removing the need for one-time passwords or manual inputs. The system checks whether the mobile number entered matches the SIM card being used in the current data session, helping prevent phishing and SIM-related fraud.

The successful initial tests show that Globe’s network can securely and automatically confirm user identities. For GCash users, this means stronger security and a smoother experience when logging in or making transactions.

SNA is part of Globe’s G Verify program, which offers network-based tools and APIs to protect users and businesses from digital threats. The technology follows global GSMA and CAMARA standards and has earned GSMA certification for Globe’s Number Verification API.

Globe and GCash said the project supports the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ push for stronger digital security in the financial sector. Both companies said the partnership aims to build trust, improve safety, and support wider financial inclusion as more Filipinos rely on digital financial services.
