The integration of the National ID system with financial and public service platforms is gaining momentum, promising faster transactions, tighter security, and broader financial inclusion across the Philippines.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) recently formalized the integration of the National ID with Universal Storefront Services Corporation (USSC), enabling the company to use National ID authentication for client verification across services such as remittances, micro-insurance, bills payment, digital banking, and the distribution of government aid or ayuda.
By embedding National ID authentication into USSC’s onboarding process, customers can now be verified more quickly and securely, reducing paperwork, minimizing fraud, and improving customer experience—key advantages as financial services push deeper into underserved communities.
The PSA said the partnership supports its broader goal of expanding financial inclusion by giving more Filipinos access to secure, reliable, and confidence-building identity verification. With a single, government-issued ID, clients can transact more easily while institutions lower compliance costs and operational risks.
USSC joins a growing roster of financial institutions already integrated with the National ID system, including HelloMoney of Asia United Bank, GCash of G-Xchange Inc., OwnBank, The Rural Bank of Cavite City Inc., Salmon of Sunprime Finance Inc., and Wise. The expanding network highlights the National ID’s role as foundational infrastructure for the country’s digital finance ecosystem.
Beyond finance, the PSA is also scaling National ID integration with local government units (LGUs), reinforcing the system’s design as an interoperable digital platform. LGUs can plug into the National ID to modernize services, improve transparency, and accelerate service delivery.
In Ilagan City, for instance, integration allows residents to access digital services through a single portal—ranging from civil registry requests and mayor’s clearances to scholarship applications, traffic fine payments, and community tax certificates.
As more institutions come on board, the National ID is emerging as a critical enabler of digital transformation—streamlining services, strengthening trust, and lowering barriers to participation in both the financial system and public services.
