PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc. used digital technology to enhance the Grand Sinulog Festival 2026, offering improved connectivity, exclusive perks, and wider access to cultural and religious activities for Filipinos in Cebu and abroad.
Smart upgraded and optimized its 5G network in key areas across Cebu City to support seamless mobile data use during the festivities, allowing festival-goers to share photos and videos in real time.
Smart Stores in major Cebu malls—SM Cebu, Ayala Center Cebu, SM Seaside, and Gaisano Mactan—served as festival hubs, featuring performances by Lumad Basakanon Dancers and RAVS DBC, as well as exclusive Sinulog merchandise. Outreach activities also reached prepaid riders and communities through activations in SB Parkmall, Baseline, and Vibo Axis, and students through campus visits at several Cebu schools.
Beyond the street celebrations, PLDT and Smart powered the livestream of the 461st Fiesta Señor, enabling devotees worldwide to follow major religious events, including Novena Masses, Walk with Mary, Fiesta Señor, and other key rites.
PLDT Home provided connectivity support to local media outlets, while PLDT Enterprise assisted the Cebu City Public Information Office to ensure smooth coordination and public updates.
For devotees like Catherine Unger, a visually impaired resident of Mandaue City, livestreaming and online platforms made participation possible despite physical limitations.
