Jollibee’s Korean coffee bet brews loyalty

Jollibee Foods Corp. is getting a strong validation of its global coffee strategy, with Compose Coffee topping customer satisfaction rankings among South Korea’s leading low-cost coffee chains, according to a recent survey by the Korea Consumer Agency (KCA).

Jollibee, which recently unveiled plans to spin off its international operations and list it overseas, said a study of 1,600 consumers showed Compose Coffee had highest overall satisfaction score of 3.97 out of 5, beating out major competitors in one of the world’s most competitive coffee markets. Respondents gave the brand high marks across key experience drivers, including customer service, operational execution, empathy, menu quality, and ordering convenience.

The KCA, South Korea’s government-mandated consumer protection body, said customer preferences were largely shaped by menu–price suitability, coffee taste, and store accessibility—areas where Compose Coffee consistently stood out. The findings reinforce the brand’s positioning as a value-for-money leader, a philosophy that closely mirrors Jollibee Group’s broader playbook.

The recognition comes as Compose Coffee continues to expand rapidly, powered by strong digital engagement and an asset-light, scalable model. For Jollibee, the performance underscores the strategic logic behind its push into coffee and tea, particularly in high-volume, high-frequency markets where operational discipline matters as much as brand appeal.

Beyond numbers, the survey highlights growing brand equity and consumer trust, with customers citing convenience, an approachable menu, and reliable quality. That combination has helped Compose Coffee embed itself into Korea’s daily coffee culture—no small feat in a market known for exacting standards and intense competition.

For Jollibee, the momentum adds weight to its ambition to build a world-class portfolio of category-leading beverage brands. As the group continues to invest in technology, operational simplification, and feedback-driven product upgrades, Compose Coffee’s rise suggests that Jollibee’s recipe—scale, value, and consistency—travels well beyond burgers and fried chicken.
