The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) is stepping up efforts to make banking more accessible and useful to Filipinos, especially those who are underserved or unbanked.
A key part of this push is BPI On-The-Move, a mobile banking program that brings financial services directly to communities. The program’s first fully equipped mobile banking bus was launched in Naga City on January 26. The bus serves as a one-stop financial hub where residents and small business owners can open savings accounts, sign up for BPI’s VYBE e-wallet, and apply for cards, insurance, and loan products.
BPI said the mobile unit is designed to simplify banking processes and lower barriers for people starting their financial journey.
Beyond mobile banking, BPI’s microfinance arm BanKo is also holding financial wellness sessions for Naga City local government employees, providing practical guidance on budgeting, saving, and money management.
The initiative supports the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ financial inclusion framework, focusing on both the underserved—those with limited access to suitable banking services—and the unbanked, who are not part of the formal financial system.
Looking ahead to 2026, BPI plans to expand BPI On-The-Move by partnering with more local governments and communities, increasing financial education programs and on-the-ground engagement nationwide. The bank said these efforts are part of its long-term goal of helping build a better Philippines, one family and one community at a time.
