Metrobank cuts transfer fee to P8, making digital transfers cheaper

Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) will lower its InstaPay transfer fee to P8 per transaction starting February 1, 2026, marking the lowest rate the bank has offered for the service and replacing the previous P25 charge. Transfers between Metrobank accounts will remain free.

The reduced fee is expected to ease the cost of everyday digital banking, particularly for customers who regularly use InstaPay for household expenses, bill payments, and small business transactions. By lowering the cost per transfer, Metrobank aims to make instant digital payments more practical for routine, small-value transactions that many Filipinos rely on daily.

With the new rate, Metrobank becomes one of the more competitively priced traditional banks in the InstaPay market. Other major banks typically charge around P10 to P25 per transfer, while some digital banks offer free or limited free InstaPay transfers under certain conditions. The P8 fee places Metrobank at the lower end of the standard fee range while maintaining full InstaPay access through its digital channels.

The move supports the bank’s broader push toward accessible digital banking, including its eSavings account, which allows customers to manage and grow their money online while enjoying lower transfer costs and free Metrobank-to-Metrobank fund transfers.
