Stay smart online this Valentine’s Day, warns BPI

As more people celebrate Valentine’s Day online, the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) urges caution and for the public to protect personal and financial information.

The lender said scammers often exploit the season with phishing messages posing as gift deals, delivery alerts, or urgent notes from trusted brands—or even loved ones. Clicking these links can steal login details, card information, or one-time passwords.

Online shopping also carries risks. Fake stores, unsafe payment pages, and deals that seem “too good to be true” can lead to fraud, especially when transactions are rushed. BPI advises verifying sources and staying alert to keep both yourself and loved ones safe.
