Fuel prices rise again, hitting households and businesses

Fuel prices in the Philippines continue to climb, with gasoline up by P0.60 per liter and diesel and kerosene rising by P1.20 per liter, marking the seventh consecutive week of increases for gasoline and the eighth for diesel and kerosene in 2026.

Oil companies, including Seaoil, PTT, Jetti, and Caltex, will implement the adjustments starting Tuesday morning. Jetti president Leo Bellas attributed the hikes to global market reactions amid heightened tensions between the US and Iran, which have raised freight and premium costs despite steady regional supply. He noted that a stronger Philippine peso has helped temper the increases.

The Department of Energy reminded the public that discounts are still available at select stations, ranging from P0.50 to P3 per liter for public utility vehicles, along with loyalty programs for private motorists.

Year-to-date, prices have risen by P4.80 per liter for gasoline, P8.20 for diesel, and P6.20 for kerosene. In Metro Manila, the latest per-liter prices average P54.70 for RON 91 gasoline, P55 for diesel, and P83.47 for kerosene.

The persistent fuel price hikes are expected to strain household budgets and raise operating costs for businesses, particularly those reliant on transportation and logistics.
