Mapúa, ASU expand partnership, global education soars

Mapúa Education Group and Arizona State University (ASU) are taking Philippine higher education global.

The collaboration, initially focused on business and health sciences, now spans all Mapúa programs—undergraduate and graduate—across Mapúa University, Mapúa Malayan College Laguna, Mapúa Malayan College Mindanao, and Mapúa Malayan Digital College.

Under this expanded partnership, all students gain access to ASU’s world-class courses, innovative AI frameworks, and a broad international network through the ASU-Cintana Alliance, which currently includes 35 universities worldwide.

Dual-degree programs, accelerated master’s options, and online pathways allow learners to earn globally recognized credentials without leaving the Philippines.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to elevating Philippine education through globally benchmarked standards,” said Dr. Dodjie Maestrecampo, President of Mapúa University. “We are preparing Filipino learners to compete and lead on the world stage by integrating digital innovation and future-focused curricula across all our campuses.”

ASU President Michael Crow highlighted the scope of the collaboration: “Mapúa is advancing to the level of comprehensive partner. Through our Cintana network, we look forward to supporting Mapúa’s aspirations and the Philippines’ growth in collaboration with its allies, including the United States.”

The alliance embeds ASU’s instructional content into Mapúa’s curricula, strengthens research collaborations, and enhances student mobility while maintaining accessibility. Innovations in AI-driven learning, sustainability education through a Green College benchmarked against ASU’s Rob Walton College, and interdisciplinary faculty exchanges aim to prepare graduates for industries reshaped by emerging technologies.

Ranked No. 1 in the Philippines for Engineering, Computer Science, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences, Mapúa combines its national leadership with ASU’s top-ranked global innovation and research reputation. Together, they are setting a new benchmark for international academic collaboration, positioning Filipino learners to thrive on a global stage.

The partnership signals a meaningful evolution in Philippine higher education—moving beyond traditional exchanges to comprehensive, impact-driven collaboration that integrates global expertise, technology, and sustainability across the country’s leading academic institutions.
