Globe backs digital education wallet to boost learning in public schools

Globe Telecom is supporting a new digital education initiative aimed at improving learning outcomes in Philippine public schools by combining technology, teacher training, and data-driven teaching.

The program supports Ayala Foundation’s CENTEX Digital Education initiative in partnership with the Department of Education and local government units. It promotes a “High Touch, High Tech” learning model that blends digital tools with hands-on teacher coaching.

Under the program, teachers use digital learning platforms and real-time student data to adjust lessons based on students’ needs. Educators also participate in coaching sessions and Professional Learning Communities to improve teaching strategies.

A pilot implementation in San Marcelino showed promising results, with math learning outcomes improving by 13.8 percentage points within 12 weeks.

Filipinos can also help support the initiative through Globe’s digital “education wallet.” Customers can donate through Globe Rewards points or the GlobeOne app’s GoGIVE feature. Contributions help fund Digital Learning Labs, internet connectivity, and access to learning platforms such as Khan Academy.

The initiative is expected to benefit more than 8,000 students and 300 public school teachers, while creating a scalable model for improving digital learning across the country’s public school system.
