AirAsia Philippines launches Cebu–Bangkok flights, boosting Cebu hub

AirAsia Philippines will launch a new direct route between Cebu and Bangkok as part of efforts to strengthen its Cebu hub and expand international connectivity in Central Visayas.

Starting June 11, 2026, the airline will operate daily flights between Cebu and Bangkok (Don Mueang). The route links Cebu to one of the major hubs of the AirAsia Aviation Group, allowing travelers to connect to 42 domestic routes across Thailand and about 60 international destinations across Asia.

The new service also aims to support inbound tourism to Central Visayas, the country’s most visited region by foreign travelers. Data cited from the Philippine Institute for Development Studies shows the region welcomed about 31.5 million international visitors from 2000 to 2024.

The Bangkok route adds to AirAsia Philippines’ growing Cebu network. Since launching its Cebu hub in November 2025, the airline has introduced flights connecting the city to Macao, Kuala Lumpur, Caticlan, and Davao.

At the same time, the carrier is increasing international flight frequencies from Manila to meet rising travel demand. Starting March 30, flights between Manila and Taipei will add five weekly services. From April 3, Manila–Kaohsiung flights will increase by four weekly services, while the Manila–Macao route will add three more weekly flights beginning April 4.

AirAsia is a low-cost carrier group operating in five ASEAN markets—Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia. The airline has served more than 800 million passengers and connects over 130 destinations across Asia with a fleet of more than 200 aircraft.
