BSP flags fake online article using governor’s identity

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has warned the public about a fraudulent online article that misuses the name and likeness of its governor, Eli M. Remolona, Jr..

In a statement, the central bank said the article is entirely fake. It falsely claims to feature an interview between television host Boy Abunda and the BSP chief, with fabricated quotes attributed to Remolona. The BSP also noted that the post uses AI-generated images to misrepresent the governor and mislead readers.

The central bank urged the public not to share the fraudulent content and to remain cautious when encountering messages or articles that appear to come from the BSP or its officials.

To verify legitimate communications, the BSP advised the public to contact the institution directly through its official channels:
