Voice Plushies turn love into huggable business

When the pandemic kept families apart, Louis Pador found a way to make distance feel a little closer with soft, voice-recorded plushies.

What started as a small project during his nutrition and dietetics studies at the University of Santo Tomas has grown into a business spreading warmth and smiles across homes.

The idea was simple and heartfelt. Pador wanted a stuffed toy that could carry a real message from someone you love. “I wanted something more personal than the usual gift,” he said.

With P17,000 in savings, he transformed a corner of his home library into a mini production hub and hand-sewed his first batch of 15 Plushies.

The first prototype was a Mother’s Day gift from his mom to his grandmother. A tiny bear carried a greeting in her voice proving that even soft toys can hold real emotions.

“My mom told me, ‘Louis, you have to make this into something bigger,’” he recalled. A single social media post later and orders started pouring in from friends, classmates, and family.

As demand grew, Pador recruited skilled sewers from Marikina, turning his project into a community livelihood that now supports 15 mothers. “It is amazing to see a small idea create jobs and empower women,” he said.

Each Plushie carries up to 30 seconds of a recorded message that can be replaced anytime. Designs range from bears and dogs to capybaras with prices starting at P999.

“Plushies bridge not only distance but relationships,” Pador said. Peak seasons like Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day see him fulfilling up to 100 orders a month. With reliable suppliers and imported recording devices, he continues to improve his products and plans to open a physical store in the next two to three years.

From student experiment to full-time entrepreneur, Pador still occasionally does nutrition consultations while focusing on growing Plushies. “I want people to feel connected and share love even when they are miles apart,” he said.

His story proves that creativity, courage, and a little soft toy can go a long way, especially when it carries a voice from the heart.
