NLEX targets 2026 completion for new expressway section; posts strong Q1 2026 results

NLEX Corp. aims to finish building the 2-kilometer Section 1A of Segment 8.2, from Mindanao Avenue to Quirino Highway, by the third quarter of 2026. Built with partner China Road and Bridge Corp. at a cost of P2.2 billion, the elevated expressway will run over local roads and the Tullahan River, letting motorists bypass heavy traffic spots. Open 24/7 to all vehicles, it is expected to serve 11,000 cars daily and decongest roads in Novaliches.

This section is the first part of the larger 11.3-kilometer NLEX–C5 Northlink, which will eventually connect Mindanao Avenue to C5/C.P. Garcia Avenue near Katipunan Avenue, linking northern and southern Luzon via eastern Metro Manila.

The company also reported strong financial and traffic figures for January–March 2026: net income rose 8% to P3.84 billion, while toll revenues grew 15% to P8.02 billion, driven by more vehicles and January 2026 rate adjustments. Average daily traffic increased 2% on NLEX (361,665 vehicles) and SCTEX (83,930 vehicles), while NLEX Connector traffic rose 7% to 22,146 entries daily.

NLEX runs a 105-km expressway network and the 94-km SCTEX, serving as key links between Metro Manila and northern and central Luzon provinces.
